Dyson, a leader in household vacuums, offers a compact, lightweight vacuum (DC 50 Animal – $499.99)) that will knock your socks off. This little beauty packs a big punch with it’s patented 2-Tier Cyclone technology and highly effective cleaner head that self-adjusts to different floor types. Gone are the days are switching your vacuum settings for the various floor types in your home.
This is by-far the best vacuum I’ve ever owned. Weighing in at only 11.6 lbs, this vacuum is ideal for everyone. Even the kiddos! This vacuum is ideal for families with pets and kids as it picks up even the smallest specs of dust and crumbs. Just make sure the big crumbs and debris are removed from your floor before using your vacuum and you’ll be on your way to a healthier, cleaner home.
This is the dirt that came off of our family room rug and two of our bedrooms AFTER the use of our old vacuum. I can’t believe how much dirt our old vacuum was leaving behind. |

Dyson DC50 Animal:
Behind the Scenes at Dyson’s Testing Facility:
Dyson vacuums are put through the toughest tests to ensure durability and effectiveness for your family.
1. Suction: Suction power tested by manometers at the cleaner head, where it matters most
2. All floors: Pick-up tests in laboratory setting to simulate different floor types in real homes
3. Filtration: Cyclones and filters tested to separate and capture the finest smoke particles in Dyson’s flow visualization laboratory
4. Up, down, around: Maneuverability and tests up stairs and around tables
5. Edges: Vacuums tested right to the edges and up to the baseboard
6. Durability: 30lb weights dropped by mechanical rigs onto vacuum bins to measure strength and robustness
About the DC50
DC50 is a compact vacuum with the performance of a full-sized upright. It is mounted on a ball for maneuverability and a self-adjusting cleaner head maintains constant suction at the cleaner head, across all floor types.
James Dyson: “Dyson engineers have concentrated our patented technology. The brief was to produce a small, efficient, powerful machine that performed like a full-size one.“
1859 prototypes of the machine were created by over 100 Dyson engineers over three years. They miniaturized each component, questioning materials used as well as size, and efficiency. The cyclone pack acts as an integral part of the machine’s structure and by eliminating ducting around the ball they have streamlined the machine’s profile, making it more maneuverable.
2 Tier Radial™ cyclone technology:
Dyson’s 2 Tier Radial™ cyclones capture more microscopic dust. Every angle of each airway is honed to ensure microscopic particles are spun out of the airflow and captured in the bin.
Advanced cleaner head technology:
A direct drive motor sits inside the brush bar lowering the cleaner head profile and making it easier to clean under furniture. The self-adjusting base plate adapts to the floor surface, providing constant suction at the cleaner head, whatever the floor type.
Carbon fiber:
DC50 is the first Dyson upright vacuum cleaner with patented carbon fiber brush bar technology. On carpets the stiff nylon bristles remove dirt. On hard floors the ultra-fine antistatic carbon fiber filaments remove fine dust.
Maneuverable:
DC50 uses third-generation ball technology making it highly maneuverable in the tightest of spaces. The concentrated technology and carefully selected materials mean that DC50 weighs just 11.6 pounds.
Cost: $499.99
