Everything You Could Ever Need to Know About Fighting the Signs of Aging

The word aging is enough to send shivers down most women’s spines. It’s something we try to put off thinking about until it’s usually too late. As soon as those wrinkles begin to show, we realize it’s time to get to work. Unfortunately, it’s normally well past the point we can make much difference. That’s why I’ve put this guide together! It doesn’t matter how old you are; there’s something in here you will find useful. From your first grey hair to bringing that sparkle back, here’s everything you need to know about aging. And, how to fight those telltale signs!

Grey Hair
This is likely to be the first thing you notice, as you begin to age. In fact, some women can see grey hairs from their mid-twenties. Not only can your hair turn grey or white, but it may also look dull and thinning. It’s time to take a trip to the hairdresser's! They will be able to let you know exactly what you need to do, to slow this down. If you’ve been dying and straightening your hair for years, it may be a little too late. If you haven’t, you may be in luck. Regular trims will become a must if you want to keep your locks in tip-top shape. You want to avoid the hair dye as much as possible, even if it feels like second nature to cover up. Your hairdresser may be able to recommend a good toner, which is more gentle on the hair. There are also treatments out there specifically designed for dull or thinning hair. Take good care of it with plenty of deep conditionings and masks.

Turkey Neck
This may not be one of the first signs of aging, but it’s one of the most daunting. It seems like there is no going back once the skin on your neck loses its elasticity. If it hasn’t happened yet, you can put some preventative measures in place. Make sure you’re using a good anti-aging cream all the way down your neck. Not just on your face! There are also various tightening exercises out there which can help. If the time has already come then you can dress to cover it up. This doesn’t mean wearing scarves everywhere. Go for tops that have a higher cut and avoid drawing attention to it. You’ll probably want to avoid short necklaces or chokers from here on out. Instead, go for something that draws attention further down. Toward the bust.

Sagging Breasts
Speaking of the bust... Many women worry that everything is going to start moving south, as soon as they hit their thirties. As long as you take good care of yourself, this shouldn’t happen just yet. Regular exercising can keep the skin tight and prevent your breasts from sagging for quite some time. You should also consider a professional bra fitting, to make sure you’re wearing the right size. If it’s too big or small, you could be doing more harm than good. Most lingerie stores will offer a free bra fitting service, so make the most of it. Invest in some high-quality underwear staples that will keep those breasts perkier for longer. You’ll find that there’s a range of different styles available, too. You don’t need to wear flesh colored granny bras!

Wrinkly Skin
What’s the first thing you think of, when you consider aging? It’s probably going to be the wrinkly skin. Again, this is something that can happen at different ages for different women. Some will be lucky and avoid wrinkles until they’re in their sixties. Others may see the signs of aging in their mid-thirties or even before! When this happens, all we’ll want to do is bring our ‘old faces’ back. Skin tightening without surgery can feel like a bit of a minefield. With so many lotions and potions out there, how do you know which one is going to work for you? The fact is, you don’t. Ideally, you should look for a product that has plenty of elastane in it. This can help restore some of the tightness in your face. Other than that, it’s trial and error. What works for one woman may not work for another. However, it’s always a good idea to look at reviews, to see which products are widely recommended.

Age Spots
Not all women find that they get age spots as they get older. However, it does seem to be becoming more common on the hands and face. Particularly with the rise of tanning beds and hot vacations. Age spots tend to come from too much sun exposure. So, if you’re reading this and don’t have them yet, make sure you use sunscreen! The more you protect yourself when you’re younger, the better it’s going to be in the future. There’s no surefire way of getting rid of these brown spots. Well, not without surgery. You can find certain foundations and makeup that will cover them up, though. Look for anything that has been created to cover up scars or tattoos. This will work wonders on your age spots.

Bringing the Sparkle Back
There’s something about aging that seems to make many women lose their sparkle. After getting a boost of self-esteem in our thirties and forties, it all appears to evaporate as we get older. Aging can also make our eyes, skin and hair look dull. Therefore, making us lose our actual sparkle! You need to get out there and bring it back. A lifestyle shakeup can be all it takes to breathe fresh life into your body and mind. Regular exercise and eating better, are a good start. Try to do something that scares you a little, every day. Go on adventures and take part in events you’d usually give a miss. Travel the world and schedule regular visits to long lost friends. Aging doesn’t have to stop you from ticking off everything on that bucket list, once and for all.

While the thought of aging can make us run scared for the hills, it doesn’t need to be the end of a happy life. In fact, it can be the beginning of a new chapter. Use these tips to fight off those visible signs of aging and bring that sparkle back. Both physically and mentally.
