I just got finished reading such a great book to my daughter called, Little Green by Arnold Rudnick.  The main character of the story is a little green frog who quickly learns that anything is possible as long as you get to know and become happy with yourself first.

Little Green struggles throughout the story to try to be something he just isn’t, like a goose, a horse and a koi fish.  Since frogs don’t have wings, hooves or fins, it just isn’t going to happen.  Sounds a little like today’s culture, doesn’t it?
Most of us (including me) are trying to be better than what we currently are and strive to be like someone else, which isn’t always a bad thing.  What we fail to do most of the time is get to know ourselves and truly be happy with who we are before striving to be better.  If we aren’t happy with who we are, then how can we be happy as someone else?  This reminds me of an awesome video from Dove (yes, the soap company).  Watch..

Wasn’t that an awesome video?

I think Little Green is such a great story for youngsters as it teaches a great lesson.  The illustrations by Marcelo Gorenman are fantastic and really eye-catching (which is what my daughter loves).  The author, Arnold, did a great job with the wording a rhyming in the story which gives it a fun swing.

My daughter has a special “lovie” called “Pink Bunny” that she has been attached to since the infant days.  She loved that at the end of Little Green were a couple of pink bunnies who were trying to be like frogs.  She had me take a picture of her “Pink Bunny” with the book to share with you all.

More information about Little Green can be found at and  You can purchase the paperback copy of the book from Amazon for $8.99 or the Kindle version for just $5.99.

This is definitely a book you will want to get your hands on for Christmas this year.  Its small enough to fit in the stockings, too!

  1. I learned that this book is for kids ages 2-7 but I know all 3 of our children would love it and they are 10, 3, and 9 months 🙂 I also learned that for the month of October in 2013 all of the proceeds went to support Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission!
