I recently discovered the eBook Mr. Hookumbacker and the Yella Yella Yum Yum Tree by Richard Silverton. This children’s book is an adventure story with a magical and whimsical plot. It has the silliest names such as The Forest of the Cracking Stone or the village of Wiggle Twig.
This book is sure to get your kids’ imaginations flowing and will teach them about friendship. The author, Richard Silverton, describes even the smallest of details in this magical land so you truly feel like you are right there with the characters. He describes the Bumble Tums, which are similar to bumble bees, as “tree keepers” that work to keep the forest healthy. In return for the Bumble tums good work, the trees allow them to feed off of their honey sap, the Bumble Tums favorite food.
I love how this book also gives a great message about how we need to protect and take care of nature. It also teaches a very important lesson in teamwork and friendship when a group of characters work together to save their friend when she gets stuck outside the forest boundaries.
