I grew up loving family game night. Now that I have my own family, I’m excited to start doing our own family game nights. Usually we choose silly games like Cootie or Trouble, which don’t really challenge your mind. I was on a hunt for a learning type of game when I discovered this great company called Education Outdoors.
Education Outdoors offers a bunch of different outdoor related games. I was fortunate enough to try out the Mysterious Creatures board game. This game focuses on the mysterious creatures around the world that may or may not truly exist, such as Big Foot, the Loch Ness Monster or a Kraken. We had so much fun playing this game. One of my favorite features is the QR codes on some of the evidence cards. If you have a QR reader on your smart phone you can scan the code and watch the corresponding video.

“Education Outdoors Inc. was created by Tim Paczesny in 2005. Before Education Outdoors, Tim had founded a non-profit organization called ‘The League of Extraordinary Outdoorsmen’. The League organized a family fishing day once a year that was held during the free fishing weekend in Michigan. During this event, Tim realized the need to educate children and their families about the outdoors. The motivating factor to this initial realization occurred while Tim was gathering Morel mushrooms with his wife and two daughters in Northern Michigan. Tim’s daughter noticed an animal track on the ground and asked her dad what it could be. During the winter of 2005 and into 2006, Tim was dedicated to making his dream become a reality. He finished 400 questions and 100 fun facts about animals and the great outdoors. This completed the first game called ‘Camp— The Game That Grows With You’.”
