You’ve most likely heard of the brand, aden+anais somewhere along the parenting lines. aden+anais offers those wonderful muslin swaddling clothes as well as many other great products.

I was recently chosen to test out their newer line of skincare products, mum+bub. mum+bub is a premium new bath and body collection that is naturally-derived with fresh fermented pawpaw fruit. The pawpaw fruit is known to relieve, clean and protect delicate skin when applied topically. This is great for soothing skin irritations like diaper rash, eczema and even minor cuts or bites. The skincare products do not contain artificial colors, animal products, sulfates, petroleum, hormone disruptors, soy gluten, phthalates or parabens. The products are designed to be gentle enough for baby but sophisticated enough for mommy.

I received the mum+bub soothing ointment, a petroleum free, multi-purpose balm formulated with 50% pawpaw fruit per gram and has a light vanilla scent. The soothing ointment is great for diaper rash, eczema, minor cuts and scrapes, insect bites, chafing and other minor skin irritations. My husband keeps coming home from work poison oak and insect bites. He’s a land surveyor so he’s always working outside. The soothing balm is great for his poison oak and bites. It helps to relieve the itchiness and burning.

There has been a daily battle over the mum+bub ultra-gentle lotion at our house. I’ve been keeping it on my side of the bed for my hands and feet before I go to bed. A couple of weeks ago, I went to use it and it was gone! I suspected my daughter took it because she’s constantly relocating my belongings. After a little bit of searching I found the lotion on my husband’s night stand. What? The person who thinks my blogging is “silly” wants to reap the benefits of it. I DON’T THINK SO! It turns out we both love the smell and softness of the mum+bub lotion. I wish I had a scratch n’ sniff function on my blog. The smell of the lotion is so sweet and relaxing. The combination of the fresh, fermented pawpaw fruit, naturally-derived ingredients and the light Australian Sandalwood scent are amazing! The lotion is not greasy or sticky at all which is a HUGE plus! I hate that greasy feel of some other lotions. The key ingredients in the ultra-gentle lotion are : pawpaw fruit extract (Carica Papaya) & Shea butter (skin conditioning agent).

More of our lotion battle: I snuck the lotion into the computer room so I could use it while I work and it didn’t last. I found it back on my husband’s night stand. Then, I snuck it into the car the other day to use on our little road trip and my husband commented with “Mommy is hiding the lotion in the car so Daddy can’t use it!” The lotion has now ended up on my daughter’s dresser where we can ALL use it.

We love the hair+body wash just as much as the lotion. Our daughter has super sensitive skin so we usually try to stay aways from products with perfumes and artificial ingredients. We have been using the mum+bub on her every night and we’ve not seen any form on skin irritation on her. The hair+body wash also has the amazing scent like the lotion, the Australian Sandalwood scent…mmmm! “Naked baby bath time,” as we call it, is a family event each night. We sing and dance as we give our daughter a bath and let her play around in the water. Both my husband’s and my favorite thing about the hair+body wash is how little you actually have to use. We put just a tiny dollop on her hair and it lathers up nicely. We even squirt a little under the running water for a little bubble bath.

The hair+body wash is tear-free which is great for my daughter. We always get soap and water in her eyes because she plays around too much when we are rinsing her hair and face. The mum+bub doesn’t seem to bother her. The key ingredients in the wash are: pawpaw fruit extract (Carica Papaya), coco-glucoside and Glyceryl Oleate (cleanses and moisturizes).

I feel that the prices are right on the money for what you get. The products are worth more for the piece of mind you have from using safe, naturally-derived ingredients.
