Why is it that babies love keys? Perhaps it’s because we are always holding them and they want to be like mommy and daddy? Or could it just be that keys are fun to hold and play with? I think that’s it! Obviously, metal keys aren’t ideal for babies to play with which is why every baby needs a set of play keys! I’ve stumbled upon a few brands of teething keys – some metal and some plastic. My favorite set of teething keys is by far the ‘My First Keys’ from Green Toys. And I’m not just saying that because they sent me a set to review. I promise!
We LOVE Green Toys so much that every time we’re shopping at our local Marshals, Ross and TJ Maxx, we dash to the toy aisles to see if they have any Green Toys on sale. My daughter has the Green Toys Tug Boat Blue ($14.99), the Stacking Cups ($10.99), the My First Keys ($7.99) and the Fire Truck ($27.99). While the prices aren’t really that high, I’m just a bargain hunter and get a kick out of finding things on sale.
Why do we love Green Toys so much? Besides the fact that they make great reliable toys, they use local (California) recycled milk jugs to make their products. If you’ve ever wondered where your recycled milk jugs go, now you know. The milk jugs, once recycled, are reprocessed into fresh, clean plastic. This material is called high-density polyethylene and is considered one of the safest plastics out there. Green Toys doesn’t import their materials from outside of the US which is great for the earth and great for our pocket books. They save a lot of energy and reduce greenhouse gases by using local materials. Plus, by not having to import their materials the prices don’t inflate!
