Juicing is a quick, easy way to pack some extra nutrients from fruits and vegetables into your diet. That’s a given. But before you start, you should know about the list of fruits and veggies NOT to juice. This list includes bananas, avocados, some citrus peels (oranges and grapefruit) and eggplant. My advice is to do a little research before you begin juicing to find the best recipes for you.
Now that we’ve established the fact that you may want to begin juicing you should know that not all juicers are created equally. Obviously price plays a huge part in your juicer decision which is why I feel that the Big Boss Power Juicer is a great starting point. I first began juicing with the Juiceman Junior. While this was a great juicer, it was a little difficult to clean and didn’t extract as much juice as other machines on the market. I now have the 800-watt Big Boss Power Juicer and so far, so good.
The price point for the Big Boss Power Juicer is lower and is priced at just $99 on Amazon. The assembly process is super easy. Just follow the instructions that come with the juicer and you’ll nail it. To make it easy, I laid out some of my images so you can see just how easy it is to put this juicer together.
What I love about my Big Boss Power juicer is that there isn’t much fruit wasted in the process. The first juice I prepared with my juicer was a simple apple juice. Just three medium sized Granny Smith apples and that’s it. I cut each apple into quarters and popped them in to the top of the machine. I was surprised to see how much juice actually came out of each apple compared to my old juicer. What’s even better is that the cleanup process was easy-peasy. I’m all about that!
Aside from the obvious nutrient-rich quality of most juices, juicing has many healing properties. While doing some research I stumbled upon this great article by Dr. Oz titled, The Healing Properties of Juicing. I highly recommend you check it out.
The Big Boss Power Juicer doesn’t seem to heat up too much during the juice making process, which is essential for maintaining the nutritional value of the juice. Another tip that I’ve learned about juicing is that in order to take advantage of the healthy enzymes from the juice, it should be consumed with a day or so of making it. A great way to preserve your juice for a few days is to place it in mason jars.
