I’m totally that parent that lets my daughter play with my iPhone when she’s starting to get bored at a restaurant or during a shopping trip. She loves playing on the fun new apps I’m always downloading for her but what she doesn’t realize is that most of the apps I download are educational in some way. Not only does my daughter have fun with her educational apps, she ends up learning something during her playtime. The newest app to be downloaded on my iPhone is the awesome 101 Animal Puzzles for Kids app. This is actually the paid ($1.99 – upgrade) version of 21 Animal Puzzles for Kids by Little Clever – which is also a great game.
This app is sort of a cross between those origami adult puzzles and the fun wooden puzzles our kids play with. Kids actually have to figure out where the puzzle pieces go to complete each animal shape. Once the shape is complete, the app gives the child the name of the animal and the sounds they make.
The app took my three-year old daughter a few tries to get the hang of the concept. I was a little worried that she wouldn’t be able to do it but much to my surprise she figured it out. The game runs smoothly, is super easy to use and has fun graphics and bright colors without being overstimulating.
So far, we’ve had great luck with running the app on my iPhone 6. We haven’t experienced any delays or crashes in the app. We all know how frustrating it can be to have an app crash on you, right?
If you’re looking for a free or inexpensive app that is not overstimulating but will teach kids valuable coordination skills, you should definitely check this one out. We’ve been very happy with it.
