Dressing Up a Messy Bun and Hiding Baby Baldness with Birdy Boutique
What I love most about the messy bun is that you really can’t mess it up. They’re great for keeping your hair out of your face and as a “third day” hair style. I like to dress buns up with accessories because it makes me look slightly more put together when I’m running errands. I end up feeling better about how I look which reflects on my confidence, too.
A leather bow like the one I’m wearing from Birdy Boutique adds just enough chicness to a messy bun and takes minimal effort. This leather bow is set on a tough hold alligator clip so you literally just slip it to the bottom of the messy bun.
Birdy Boutique has a few different colors of leather bows, so it’s a great idea to stock up if you’re a messy bun fanatic, like me. These bows aren’t heavy, like you might think. I actually don’t even notice mine when it’s in my hair and it stays put all day long.
Now, on to baby baldness. Little Kendall is now seven months old and looks like a balding man. We’ve attempted the combover but it just won’t do. A great way to hide baby baldness is to use headbands, headwraps or even baby hats.
I prefer headbands or headwraps over hats because they are much cooler during the summer and easier to keep on my baby. The elastic band on a headband holds Kendall’s hair closer to her scalp in the front and back and ends up covering those funky balk spots, too.
The Flamingo Pink Chiffon Bird headband from Birdy Boutique ($7) is also large enough that it hides a lot of the baldness up top. It’s super soft on Kendall’s head and she never seems to tug at it when it’s on. I also love that the elastic band isn’t too tight (my headband pet peeve).
“Birdy Boutique was started by two Polish sisters who have two loves; birds and babies! The freedom, peacefulness and beauty that they enjoy from birding has allowed great appreciation for peace and nature and their four children have shown them how precious and joyful life can be. So now they open their boutique doors to you, where mama can shop for herself and baby too!”
