Healthy Travel Essentials For the Entire Family

With the coming cold and flu season upon us, AND the busy holiday season, it makes sense to be prepared and be preventive against germs and bacteria.  Children are big carriers of germs as they touch everything in sight, pick their noses and sneeze and cough all over the place!  These days we try to use hand sanitizer after we touch things out in public, and some of the larger stores are putting out cart wipes so you can wipe down cart handles before using it.  Anything antibacterial helps in our fight to stay healthy!
I recently took a trip to the Caribbean on a cruise ship, which we all know have had their share of virus outbreaks.  Cruise ships these days are outfitted with hand sanitizer machines pretty much everywhere you look.  As a preventative measure this trip I took along some sample packages of Booster C 600 and Cold-Eeze Cold Remedy Lozenges.  Booster C 600 is an immune booster that helps give you a boost when you are traveling, stressed out or just running around like crazy with our everyday busy schedules. you can mix Booster C 600 in a small glass of water or take it straight out of the package.  It has a great lemon berry taste, almost like eating a Pixy Stix!  It contains zinc, 600 mg of vitamin C and echinacea, which has always been touted as being a great immune supporter.  I took it every day in a glass of water, just to be safe against germs.  Be sure to see the great line of health and nutritional products at www.usana.com.

I also had to use some of the Cold-Eeze lozenges on the plane ride back to California.  The plane was tight and congested and my throat really felt dry.  With all the people coughing on the plane, I was sure I was going to pick up some crazy bug!  The ingredients in Cold-Eeze are clinically proven to shorten the duration of the common cold and the zinc in them really soothes a dry throat.  I used the sugar-free wild cherry flavor, but they also come in several other regular and sugar-free flavors.  Learn more about the benefits of taking Cold-Eeze products at www.coldeeze.com, along with testimonials from real Cold-Eeze users.

I don’t want to forget something that happens to many of us while traveling – constipation!  At home I use flax seed in smoothies and other recipes and it keeps me regular, but it’s hard to bring flax seed with me on trips.  This trip I used organic Carrington Farms Flax Paks mixed in my morning cereal.  No irregularity problems at all!  I have used fiber pills, but flax has so many more health benefits than plain fiber.  I really like the “nutty” taste of flax.  It’s great mixed in so many things, i.e. baked into muffins, pancakes, etc.  You can read all about the nutritional and digestive benefits of flax seed at www.CarringtonFarms.com, as well as purchase from their website of find a local retailer.

For the Kids
Halo Sani-Cuffs: Whether in the backseat or sitting next to you on the plane, your children are bound to pick up some germs throughout the day. Instead of worrying about yucky bacteria on their little hands just make sure you are encouraging good hygiene! Halo Sani-Cuffs are comfortable, stylish, and collectible hand sanitizer wristbands for kids that give parents piece-of-mind that their little ones are never more than an arm’s length away from fighting germs. ($3.99 at www.armorteria.com).  I recommend these for kids ages 4+.  My two year old loves to play with her Armorteria bracelet and ends up wasting the sanitizer.

Stay healthy for the holidays and be proactive against cold and flu viruses!
