Designing your own home is a lot of fun. Designing your own home is an exciting opportunity to create a space that truly reflects your lifestyle, personality, and future needs. You can go as wacky as you would like (within the design constraints) or as modern as you would like – using plenty of glass and clean colours.
When starting from a completely blank canvas, you have full control over everything, from the interiors & furniture piece you are going to choose to the technology you want to implement and how you are going to design the floor plans – we would recommend you look into floor plans from The House Designers for inspiration, they have plenty of information on their site.

To get you started, here are three things to consider when designing your own home. Keep on reading to learn more about three areas of considerations which we think are important for you to be aware of.
Technology
A good place to start is tech! Every year, new technologies are released, with improved capabilities and smarter systems being developed every few months. From smart lighting and climate control to home security systems and energy management, modern technology can significantly enhance comfort, convenience, and efficiency. When designing your new home, technology will play a significant role in determining its appearance and how you will interact within each space.
How you use each space
Your home should support the way you live. Consider how many people will use the space, how often you entertain guests, and whether you work or study from home. Open-plan living may suit social families, while quiet, private areas are important for rest and focus. Don’t forget to factor in storage. You can never have enough storage options, so make sure you include this within the plans. In fact, whatever you think is enough, double it – the last thing you want is a messy new home, as you don’t have enough space to store all your items.
Outside space
You will focus a lot of your attention on the inside of your new home, especially during the design phase. This is natural, as for a lot of people, the inside is their priority. But don’t forget to turn your attention to the outside. Outdoor areas such as gardens, patios, balconies, and driveways play a major role in how your home is used and enjoyed. You want to ensure that you use the space in your home design logically and include various outdoor spaces for you and your family to enjoy. If you are unsure of how much outside space to include, it’s best to speak to an advisor, as they will have done this plenty of times and had the same conversation each time as well.
