Money Doesn’t Grow On Trees, So Make Your Garden Look Great For Cheap!

Is your garden looking a little on the drab side? But have you spent most of your money on finally getting the driveway fixed? Maybe the weather hasn’t been good enough to go out in the garden recently, and so you have pretty much neglected it. But there are simple, and more importantly, cheap ways to give your garden a major sprucing up. With winter coming and the weather getting colder, you may want to get the garden prepared now before next summer so you can go and enjoy it. Here are some methods to take on board to grow your garden’s style.

Add A Splash Of Color

If your garden has been looking a bit on the grey side, adding some color will make all the difference. You don’t necessarily have to repaint the wood fence. You can always purchase a few very colorful wooden planters instead. You can stand these on the patio all the lawn. If you are growing flowers that are very delicate or fruit and vegetables, it is better to get raised planters. This is because it gives them more protection against pests or your pets! If you have any old plant pots looking around you could paint them to inject a new lease of life. Try and paint them either bright, bold colors or calmer summer pastel colors.

Grow The Grass

Do you fertilize your lawn at all? If not, it is a great way to make your grass look healthier. Doing this will fill up bare patches and prevent weeds. It will also make the lawn more long-lasting and more resistant to pests and constant foot traffic such as pets or your family! It is recommended that you fertilize the lawn a few times in the space of the year, usually between one and four times. So if you do it every 3 months on average it will work out well for the grass. The amount of time it can take will depend on the size of the garden. But normally it would only take a couple of hours at the most. As a great way to make your grass look a lot greener, using fertilizers is a relatively cheap way to do it!

Get Freebies!

You don’t always need to spend a huge budget on getting your garden up to scratch, but there are websites like Freecycle you can check if anyone is giving anything away. You could always check eBay for older models of items as people will tend to upgrade their own gadgets and want to sell their older ones quickly and cheaply. eBay is also good for buying seeds for flowers etc. if you are just starting to exercise your green fingers.

Shine Some Light On The Situation

Using lighting in the garden can be a very simple way to give your garden some character. You have many choices on what you would like. You could get battery operated lamps or solar powered lights to benefit the environment and save money the same time. You could get tea lights to make your garden look pretty or big lamps for more visibility, which looks lovely if you’re sitting out in the garden in the summer.
