Parenting Solutions for Cold and Flu Season + Giveaway

Cold and Flu Solutions for Babies
It is that time of the year again when infants and children will start to feel the effects of cold and flu season. Last year, thousands of children got sick from the flu and according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a little more than 100 died from the disease- so it is important that parents are prepared for the onset of the bug.  Brilliant Baby Products has some very helpful new ideas to help parents make it through this upcoming cold and flu season, without too many sleepless nights.
 RaZBaby Vaporizer on the Go:

Sooth and calm fussy babies with RaZbaby’s Vaporizer on the Go! This revolutionary product clips easily onto the front of baby’s pacifier, releasing calming, aromatic scents for up to 12 hours. Parents can select cool, refreshing eucalyptus, which will help open up nasal passages and provides relief from colds, flu, and allergy symptoms, or soothing lavender, renowned for its relaxing, sleep-inducing powers. Available online and select retailers nationwide for $7.99.

My Thoughts

This is such a great idea.  I like that you don’t actually have to rub an ointment on the baby’s chest.  Even if your baby doesn’t take a pacifier you can still use the clip-on device.
RaZbaby- Keep It Kleen Pacifier
Baby dropped that pacifier? Don’t worry– each RaZbaby Keep It Kleen pacifier features a revolutionary clasp that automatically closes over the nipple of the pacifier when dropped, so the nipple never comes in contact with dirty floors or fingers- perfect during those busy trips with baby in toe.
Choose from dozens of adorable animals, decorative designs, even sports themes, then personalize the paci with baby’s name printed right on it. BPA-free and baby safe, Keep It Kleen pacifiers are for designed for newborns to 36 months. MSRP: $4.99

My Thoughts
After lots of at-home testing, I’m pleased to say that this pacifier really does close when dropped.  I don’t know why all pacifiers don’t have this clasp feature.  It’s great.

DayDreamer Sleeper:
A perfect inclined sleeper to help comfort your infant when breathing is difficult.DayDreamer Sleeper is a luxurious and soft sleeper that will help cradle babies, creating a more natural sleeping position to help babies fall asleep faster and sleep more soundly. It is a perfect place for naptime and during the nighttime, great for when baby is congested and has difficulty lying on their backs. Created by an infant product specialist, the DayDreamer Sleeper’s flat base is designed to keep the Sleeper stable when baby is awake and moving, while the high walls prevent toys and bottles from falling out of the Sleeper and onto the floor. The DayDreamer Sleeper surpasses the latest safety regulations and adheres to all proposed federal laws and CPSC standards for baby sleepers. MSRP: $129.99
Available at Babies R Us
My Thoughts
There used to be another product on the market that looked similar to the DayDreamer Sleeper but was actually recalled for safety reasons.  What the other product lacked was high sides.  I love that the DayDreamer Sleeper has super high sides so the baby’s head cannot fall off.  The material is super soft and the variety of colors that it comes in is great.  This would definitely make a great baby shower gift.
Boogies Be Gone!™:

Parents and little ones can now Breathe Easier with Boogies Be Gone!™

Boogies Be Gone!™ features an ergo dynamic Comfy Tip® design that fits snuggly into the child’s nose, providing comfort, support and suction, as well as a top-mounted, repositionable hose that allows for use in multiple positions for maximum comfort and effectiveness. Made in the USA for kids ages five and under, Boogies Be Gone!™ is BPA, phalate and lead-free. MSRP is $13.95 and is available online at BreathEasierUSA.com and select stores.

My Thoughts
At first, I thought the Breathe Easier Boogies Be Gone snot sucker was a disgusting idea.  However, after pulling it out of the package and really learning how to use it, I totally understand how it’s better than those snot sucker bulbs.  The bulbs can get moldy and are really difficult to clean but the Boogies Be Gone device is a much cleaner snot sucking solution.  In my opinion, though, the price is too high.  I would purchase this product if it was in the $3 to $5 range but definitely wouldn’t pay $13.95 for it.  The materials feel thin and cheap to me, but the concept is great.

  1. If we're in public and a bathroom isn't readily available I have hand sanitizer wipes but washing hands is preferred.

  2. Use hand sanitizer every time you go to the store immediately after you walk out the door. Also limit trips to the pharmacy — that is where sick people go to pick up prescriptions and cold meds.
