Judgement Free Parenting

I participated in an Ambassador Activation on behalf of Influence Central for WaterWipes. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

As I sit here and watch this WaterWipes video (over and over again), I can’t help but gravitate to the mommy with the newborn. When I think back to those first few days of motherhood, I think about how I felt in those moments with each of my daughters; and I think about how they were feeling looking up at me during those midnight feedings and diaper changes.

Were they as nervous as I was or were they absolutely happy and content? What would they have said? Did they care that I was or was not using the most popular baby product brands? Did they care how much I paid for those diapers or crib bedding? Absolutely not. When I imagine that my daughters thought in those first few moments of life are something like this:

“I feel so safe with you. You are my world and I never want these moments to end. In these moments right now, forget about snapping twenty more pictures of me and just hold me as I fall into a deep sleep. Listen to my breath, hold my hand and be in the moment because you’ll never get these moments back.”

Change the Conversation

Motherhood comes so naturally to many of us, but for some, it can be a major struggle. It can be difficult to transition from life without a little one to completely dedicating your life to this precious human being. You might feel like you need to be involved in every mommy-and-me activity on the block or purchase the most expensive brand of everything. You might look everything up on the Internet, ask friends and family for advice or just figure things out as you go – but there’s really no shame in doing any of the above or none of it at all. There’s no perfect way to parent and every family and child is different.

I encourage you to take time each day to be more present and in the moment with your little one(s) and remember that you will not get these moments back. Don’t worry about laying your baby down to sleep in her crib for that afternoon nap and take time to just cuddle and stare at her. Talk to her and tell her how much you love her and are proud of her.

As new parents, many of us join parenting-focused forums or Facebook groups or follow parenting-relating blogs, like The NapTime Reviewer. It can be so difficult to form your own opinion with society forcing you to think a certain way. I just want you to know that I completely respect your decisions as a parent and offer you my opinions and advice because it’s what has worked for me. I only feature products and brands on my blog that I truly believe are worth sharing, but if you try them and decide they aren’t right for you, I get it, and there’s no judgement. In fact, I encourage you to share your experiences with our readers.

Just because WaterWipes work for me, doesn’t mean they will work for you, but I encourage you to at least give them a shot.
