Having a beautiful smile is something that most people aspire to, and rate very highly in the beauty world. The truth is, your smile is an important part of your looks and personality as it expresses your feelings with others and spreads happiness.
To quote Roald Dahl; “if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.”
But sometime we have parts of our body and looks that we do want to improve, and a smile is a common one. If you’re not happy with your teeth here are a few things you can do to improve them
Regular Dental Care
Taking care of your teeth is imperative for your looks and general health. Teeth must be brushed twice a day, making sure you reach all of your teeth; front and back. Adults should use a medium bristle brush and brush for two minutes at a time. Electric toothbrushes can be really helpful for reaching tough areas and not pressing too hard. Teach children proper dental care from a young age, and make sure they are using a soft bristle brush for their more sensitive gums. Flossing is important for keeping your mouth healthy and avoiding gum disease. If you dislike the tape and strings, there are water flossers which are gentler and easier to use.
Whitening
If your teeth are really stained and discolored, it is relatively straight-forward to get them whitened. Speak to your dentist or dental hygiene about options, but there are lots of possibilities. In house treatments involve a gel and laser whitening, whilst some treatments can be taken home and applied over a period of time for a more gradual process. There are many at home kits available online and in stores as well, with gels or strips. Whilst some of these can alter the color of your teeth, they tend to be weaker and less efficient than professionals.
Braces
If you are unhappy with the positioning of your teeth, orthodontic work can work miracles. From metal brackets, ceramic fittings, and Invisalign has many different options available, so speak to your dentist about possibilities.

Lipstick
Never underestimate the power of a good lipstick. Choosing the right shade and color can change the look of your smile, making teeth appear whiter and lips fuller. Go to a cosmetic store and ask the assistants advice, they will recommend which shades will work best for your skin tones and coloring. Keep your lips moisturized with lip balms and products, coconut oil is a really good way of keeping your lips soft naturally.
Skin
Taking care of your skin will also improve your smile and appearance. Follow a thorough skin care routine, and make sure you eat healthily and drink plenty of water. A suntan can also make your teeth appear whiter, but make sure you stay safe and use sun protection from harmful UV rays. Use sunscreen and cover up during the sun’s strongest time, and try fake tan or gradual tan to tan totally safely.

All such good advice. Your photo is so lovely!
Awww, thank you Maryann!
Wish I'd had braces when I was growing up.

Oh these are all such great tips. I didnt know that about coconut oil for your lips. I have to find some lip balm with that in it!
I agree with your coconut oil recommendation, I use it on my lips and my skin in general. If you have a job that takes a toll on your skin, coconut oil will help you heal.
I never really thought lipstick could make a difference in how your teeth look but it really does!
Those flower crowns are so lovely. I really want to try the lipstick trick. Hopefully the gals at Ulta can recommend a good one.
