Target Fall Décor Ideas for an Entryway Console That Does More

A console table can look beautifully styled right up until everyone comes home. Then the keys, shoes (SO many shoes), sunglasses, and random little things arrive, and suddenly the fall décor has some competition and may as well not even be out!
For my entryway refresh, I wanted to bring those two things together: a cozy fall look and a place for the stuff we actually drop by the door. I pulled together a few Target fall décor finds and created styling mockups using a photo of my own entryway to see how different combinations could work.
My black console (Studio McGee from Target), wooden mirror (originally from Target, but can’t find anymore), and white wall paneling already give me a good starting point. A few warm textures, a catchall on top, and baskets underneath can change the whole feel without replacing the furniture.
Start with the console you already have
Before adding anything new, clear the top and lower shelf. Decide what needs to live here: keys, a few everyday shoes, a bag, and the little extras you grab before leaving.
I like keeping the mirror as the main piece and building around it. That leaves room to switch between a lamp, an autumn arrangement, or a small piece of art without making every inch of the table a display.
Use Target fall décor to set the mood
The pieces I picked for these mockups lean into warm wood, brass, cream, and burgundy. They feel seasonal together, but many could stay out after fall with a simple change of stems or accessories.
Here are three ways to style the same console:
- Warm wood and stone: A wood-base lamp, a stone-look catchall bowl, a textured decorative box, and a small cream pumpkin create a cozy neutral arrangement.
- Brass and burgundy: Twisted brass candleholders, burgundy taper candles, an oval brass tray, and autumn branches bring in richer fall color.
- A lamp and layered artwork: A brass lamp with a pleated shade, abstract artwork, and a small oval frame give the console a collected feel. A patterned throw in a basket adds another layer of texture.
You don’t need every piece. Choose one taller item, one useful catchall, and a couple of smaller accents. Leave a clear spot where you can actually set something down.
Target Fall Decor I’m Loving:
Make the key tray part of the décor
A pretty tray or bowl earns its place when it keeps the keys from disappearing. The oval brass tray works with the gold mirror, while the stone-look bowl brings a different texture to the black tabletop.
Give keys and sunglasses one predictable spot. Keep mail and larger items elsewhere so the catchall stays easy to use. If you have to move a pumpkin every time you come home, the arrangement probably needs a little editing.
Add three baskets underneath for the everyday drop zone
My favorite basket concept uses three medium woven baskets across the lower shelf. The warm wicker softens the black console, and the handles make the baskets easy to pull forward.
Give each basket a job: one for everyday shoes, one for a small bag or out-the-door essentials, and one for items that need to go back to another room. You could also assign baskets by family member if that works better for your household.
Measure the usable shelf width, depth, and clearance before ordering, including the basket handles. The mockup shows the idea; the actual dimensions will determine whether three fit comfortably.
For shoes, keep only the pairs worn most often here. A removable washable liner can help contain dirt, and wet shoes should dry before going into a basket.
Give the random little things a home
Hair ties, lip balm, receipts, charging cords, and spare change need somewhere to land, too. A decorative lidded box can hold a few small essentials while keeping the tabletop tidy.
If your console has drawers, use one for things you regularly need near the door. Keep the return-to-another-room basket temporary, and empty it every few days so it doesn’t become permanent storage for everything you can’t find.

Keep the fall refresh easy to live with
Autumn branches and a small pumpkin can be enough to make the entryway feel like fall. If you prefer the lamp-and-art look, bring in seasonal color through a folded throw or one small accent instead.
The goal is a console that feels welcoming when you walk in and helps you find your things when you walk out. With a few Target fall décor picks, useful baskets, and a designated spot for keys, the entryway can do both.
