Book Bugs
March is national reading month and what better way to get kids involved than with a book delivery service? Book Bugs is an online bookseller that donates one book for every three books they sell. They offer a subscription service where kids can get one to three brand new books per month that are tailored to their interests and reading level. This is not only a great way to encourage reading, but a great lesson in the importance of giving.
We were given a three-month subscription to Book Bugs to facilitate our review and help encourage reading. Any opinion expressed in this article is based on my experience with the brand and is never influenced by compensation.
Being a review blogger means that my children are more than spoiled with new product deliveries pretty much daily. While this sounds like an absolute dream, it can definitely create a little bit of spoiled behavior, if you know what I mean. Birthdays and Christmas can be especially tricky because my kids do not need anything. They open a gift and don’t seem to have that “wow” factor that we would expect a child to have. Gifts that my three-year old does ooh and ahh over, however, are books. There are so many books to discover and Charlotte thoroughly enjoys them.
If you follow us on Instagram you might have noticed that each night we have been posting a new book in honor of #NationalReadingMonth. We have vowed to read at least one new book each night through the whole month of March and will (hopefully) continue this routine for the rest of the year.
The Book Bugs subscription service has been a great program for our family and seems to bring more excitement to reading. I get an email before our delivery ships out letting me know what book(s) will be delivered, to ensure that we aren’t getting a book we already have. How awesome is that?
Book Bugs uses Lexile to find books to match the reader’s ability, so that each book delivery becomes a little more challenging for the reader. The goal is to increase your child’s reading level at the end of a one-year subscription.
