It’s officially summertime and outdoor fun is on our minds. Today’s post was written by Aaron, Cristen’s husband, and he is speaking about how important it is to protect your eyes with proper UV protection when outdoors. This post was sponsored by Essilor as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central and all opinions expressed in this post are our own.
I (Aaron) personally always make it a priority to protect my eyes when I’m outside. I’m a Land Surveyor and work outside just about every day of the week, plus I’m a cyclist and go on 30+ mile rides daily. I am also a contact lens wearer and struggle with the bright sunlight, so it’s extremely important to me to protect my eyes from the harsh effects of the sun.
I have multiple pairs of sunglasses that work for different activities during my day, but my newest pair of aviators were fitted with Xperio UV Polarized Sun Lenses. These lenses are designed to provide maximum UV protection not only from the front of the lens, but from the back as well. I had no idea that up to 50 percent of UV rays that reach the eye are reflected from the back of your lenses. I think it’s great that Xperio UV took the extra step to coat the backside of the lenses for added protection.
Nation Sunglasses Day – June 27th
Did you know that June 27th, is National Sunglasses Day? It’s the perfect time to post your #NationalSunglassesDay selfies, but it’s also a great time to help spread awareness about proper UV protection for not only your skin, but your eyes.
If you struggle with glare, even when wearing sunglasses, you will definitely want to check out Xperio UV. Their lenses eliminate the binding glare so you can see better outside with less strain, sharper color and better depth.
The durable, scratch-resistant lenses from Xperio UV are perfect for parents, because we all know how many times our sunglasses get tried on, dropped and touched.
You can also choose from a variety of lens colors, which actually change the way you see the world. My personal favorites on the Xperio UV website are gray and emerald blue.
In The Know – UV Damage
No amount of exposure to UV radiation is healthy for the eyes, but did you know that prolonged and repeated exposure can cause eyelid skin cancer, cataracts, and temporary blindness? 94 percent of people have no idea that the sun can be as harmful to their eyes as it can to their skin. Wearing quality sunglasses with protective lenses is no joke and I encourage you to wear proper eye protection anytime you step outside.
