Back-to-School Prep (Kindergarten Edition)

Back To School Gift Ideas

Parents – I’m totally freaking out about back-to-school time.  My baby is going into Kindergarten this year and it’s a whole different ball game than pre-school.  Naturally, I couldn’t help but turn to my Pinterest page for back-to-school ideas like outfits, gifts for teachers and gifts for my daughter to get her excited for what might seem like a scary experience.  I’ve been backpack hunting, lunch box searching, outfit shopping and organizing like a madwoman.

I function best when I put things down on paper (er, blog), so I’m doing a little round-up of some of my findings for back-to-school prep – Kindergartener style.

Back-to-School Gift Idea

My daughter is a little nervous for Kindergarten.  Even though she will be with all of her friends from preschool, it’s a new campus, new playground and new teacher.  I’ve been working on putting together a cute back-to-school gift basket for her to help get her excited.  Check it out:

Contents:

Caboodles On-The-Go Container
Whiffer Sniffers Clip-On Backpack Accessory
WAFF Notebook and Letterers/Emoji Cubes
$50 OshKosh/Carters Gift Card for a “Shopping Spree”
Welch’s Fruit Snacks
RETHINK Water
IPS Chips
My Little Pony Friendship is Magic: Friends and Family DVD
Littlest PetShop: Making Friends DVD
Viki’s Granola Snack Packs
Gaea Olive Snack Packs (because my daughter absolutely loves black olives)

I feel like by giving her this little gift pack, letting her pick out some clothes and letting her choose her backpack will get her excited for Kindergarten.  Let’s hope it works!

Backpacks and Lunch Bags

I remember my first little backpack going into Kindergarten had my name embroidered on the front.  I thought it was the cutest thing ever until I saw these adorable bags.

!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p, cb; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); e.id = id; cb = new Date().getTime().toString(); p = ‘//shopsensewidget.shopstyle.com/widget-script.js?cb=1468515586248?cb=’ + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === ‘object’){ if(doc.readyState === ‘complete’){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, ‘script’, ‘shopsensewidget-script’);

School Supplies

Your child’s teacher might provide you with a list of school supplies that you child will need for the school year, and they also might have a list of items that the classroom will need.  For the classroom supplies, I suggest shopping store-brand products like the Target Up&UP brand.  You can get school supplies much cheaper this way, and they really are just as good.

!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p, cb; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); e.id = id; cb = new Date().getTime().toString(); p = ‘//shopsensewidget.shopstyle.com/widget-script.js?cb=1468515586248?cb=’ + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === ‘object’){ if(doc.readyState === ‘complete’){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, ‘script’, ‘shopsensewidget-script’);

Kindergarten Wardrobe

I’ve been obsessing over the super cute styles from OshKosh and Carters.  They’re kid’s clothes are always on-trend and usually pretty easy to mix and match.  Kindergarten is a very independent age, so buying outfits that somewhat go together helps eliminate a morning battle.

!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p, cb; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); e.id = id; cb = new Date().getTime().toString(); p = ‘//shopsensewidget.shopstyle.com/widget-script.js?cb=1468515586248?cb=’ + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === ‘object’){ if(doc.readyState === ‘complete’){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, ‘script’, ‘shopsensewidget-script’);

  1. No, we don't. I actually have never heard of giving kids gifts for back to school before. 🙂

  2. I really wouldn't call them gifts…new clothes, new shoes, backpack and school supplies…that's about all we are purchasing right now!

  3. No I don't give gifts for back to school. I think the new school supplies, clothing and backpacks are enough.

  4. We usually go out for ice cream after school the first day. I LOVE this package…it would be so awesome to give my granddaughter as they are moving the end of August just as school starts due to my son being military. What a great pick me up this would be for her.

  5. I have 2 boys starting kindergarten this year. I'm glad I'm not the only one who is mindlessly searching everywhere for ideas on clothing, backpacks, supplies, lunches etc. Thank you for sharing.
